Machu Picchu sits at the convergence of the Andes and the Amazon in Peru, amidst a landscape of granite monoliths thickly draped with jungle growth. It was here that Inca stonemasons dedicated their genius and their labor to build a place of enduring beauty. This is the heart of the Inca.

The journey begins in Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The city’s motley history is on display in its architecture, comprised of sturdy Inca walls, towering Spanish churches facades, and plaza lined with arches that give access to stylish hotels, bars, lounges, and restaurants to suit all tastes.

The tour continues to the tranquil Sacred Valley, visiting small villages, traditional markets, and outstanding ruins. Here, travelers experience the contrasts of 21st century Peru, where Quechua-speaking villagers mix with an international crowd of backpack-toting tourists.

A train ride to Machu Picchu concludes this trip of a lifetime. Rediscovered in 1911, the Lost City of the Incas remains a place of enchantment. The stunning sight of the city amid the clouds is the absolute highlight of a trip to South America.
